Here's information about plopping hair:
Plopping is a hair drying technique popular, especially among people with curly or wavy hair, designed to enhance curl definition, reduce frizz, and speed up the drying process. It essentially involves wrapping your hair in a t-shirt or microfiber towel while it's still wet, allowing the curls to "pile" on top of your head.
Here's how to plop:
Prep Your Hair: After washing and conditioning, apply your usual curl-defining products, such as leave-in conditioner, mousse, gel, or cream. Make sure your hair is still very wet.
Lay Out Your Material: Lay a long-sleeved t-shirt or a microfiber towel on a flat surface like a chair or bed. The sleeves should be facing you.
Flip and Plop: Flip your wet hair forward, positioning it so that all of your hair piles into the center of the t-shirt/towel. Aim for the center of your head to be right above the center of the material.
Wrap It Up: Bring the bottom edge of the t-shirt/towel up and over the nape of your neck, then tie the sleeves together at the top of your head. Twist the sides of the t-shirt/towel tightly, then tuck them around the back of your head and secure them. Ensure the wrap is snug but not too tight.
Leave It On: Leave your hair plopped for at least 20 minutes, but ideally longer – even overnight! The longer you plop, the more moisture is absorbed.
Air Dry or Diffuse: After plopping, carefully remove the t-shirt/towel. You can then air dry your hair or use a diffuser to speed up the drying process. Be gentle when removing the wrap to avoid disturbing the curl pattern.
